Dear DVDCatalog User: We found the problem!…even though our update fixed a few things and also corrected the EXPORT CSV function in the settings page, it is the movie data in the story/plot fields… if you take a few minutes and take a look at some of your movies, look at the story/plot field and look to see if there are any type of irregular characters like these: &#anynumber; ( example: ᆿ ) For example, if you have a movie , Alien 4, in the story/plot it has this sequence of characters: … Just delete these 7 characters and then tap on save! Then once you get all of these symbols removed, the backup will work correctly. The reason for this is Apple changed their code in the SDK and used to correct these HTML codes. Well Apple did not really tell us developers about this simple change! Also remove any words like this:
Just remove these sequence of characters from the story/plot of your movies if the story/plot has them and then tap on save, then try your backup again. This is because of us going international and the data we have obtained needed so major cleanup which we do every single day and will not stop until every movie has perfect data. Can you take a look when you get a chance and let me know that you understand. Our next version that we are working on already, you will not have to worry about backups again! Every time you add or edit or delete a movie, your account on MyDVDCatalog.com is automatically updated!!! With our new update, 5.2 for iPad, you can go into the settings page and export your movie list to a file.. and then open up the attached text file and you can quickly see which movies have these extra characters! Also, remember, if we do not have a movie in our list or if a movie has wierd data, foreign characters or sybmols, please fill out our DVD Request form and let us know that that movie needs updating. We usually answer all requests in under 24 hours. Thank you. Dave Tessitore MyDVDCatalog.com
